Brabant Arrow 2022: The Route
On Wednesday, April 13, 2022, the Brabantse Pijl - La Flèche Brabançonne - will be driven again through Flemish Brabant and Walloon Brabant. Normally this race was ridden on the Wednesday before the Amstel Gold Race, but this year it is the Wednesday after. Typical of the Brabantse Pijl is the continuous succession of climbs. These are not that heavy in themselves, but they mainly exhaust the cyclists. The tour is 204.8 kilometers long and includes 25 hills. The heart of the race is a 21.9 kilometer circuit southeast of Brussels. It is visited three times and contains five climbs. In the order: Hagaard, Hertstraat, Moskesstraat, Holstheide, and the so-called S-Bocht - or, S-Curve - just before the finish in Overijse. The steep cobblestones and S-bend on Moskesstraat is famous - and notorious. The 120-kilometer run-up to the circuit contains six climbs. Then it goes via the Hertstraat, Moskesstraat, Holstheide and S-bocht to the first passage on the line.
Last year, Matteo Trentin, Tom Pidcock and Wout van Aert were three at the front on the last climb of the Moskesstraat. They stayed together before Van Aert opened the sprint just after the S-Bocht. Trentin was released, but Pidcock crossed the line and beat Van Aert on the false flat run-up to the line.
