Size guide

Size chart for cycling apparel

Cycling apparel fits closer than your everyday clothing. Here you’ll find how our sizes fit, how the Acelera size advisor works and what to do when you’re between two sizes.

What to know about cycling apparel sizing

Cycling apparel is usually meant to fit tighter than your everyday clothing. A close, snug fit reduces air resistance, prevents the fabric from flapping around at high speeds, and allows breathable materials to do their job properly. But there are differences in preferences, where pro riders usually prefer a tighter fit and more beginner cyclists tend to choose apparel that is more loose to start out with.

But which size and fit you prefer also depends on personal preference and comfort, as well as experience. If you’re unsure about your sizing, our Acelera size guide selector can help you find the right size for your next cycling outfit.

The Acelera custom sizeguide selector

At Acelera, we have developed a custom made size guide selector for each and every one of our products. So if you're unsure about which size to choose, this will help you decide with these easy steps:

  1. Find the product you want to order and click on the size guide selector under the different sizes you can choose.

  2. Add your height, weight, age, and your preferred fit.

  3. The size guide selector will recommend your optimal size based on the data you entered.

How does the sizeguide selector work?

Our sizeguide selector is based on four different metrics:

  • Your height: This determines the length of the sleeves, tights, and overall garment, and how it falls on your body.

  • Your weight: Your weight affects how the circumference of the garment fits, so adding it helps us choose the right amount of fabric and size to match.

  • Your age: Since body proportions and body fat shift over the years, knowing your age helps us pinpoint the size that's likely to suit you best.

  • Your preferred fit: Depending on your personal taste and experience, you might lean toward a tighter or looser fit. This is especially useful when the other metrics land you between two sizes.

Taking all of this into account, the calculator helps you find the right size and fit for your apparel, so nothing gets in the way of your best ride.

Sizing for women's cycling apparel

Women's cycling apparel has a specific cut tailored to female anatomy, including a shorter torso, a higher waist, and an adjusted hip-to-waist ratio. Always choose apparel from the women's collection for this reason, men's shorts in a smaller size simply won't provide the right support on the saddle.

Not sure between two sizes when ordering women's cycling shorts or a women's jersey? You can always check custom size selector on every product page or simply ask us directly via chat for personal advice.

What's more, plus-size cycling apparel for women is well represented in our range. Our plus-size women's cycling apparel goes up to and including XXXL, so every female cyclist can hit the road in a perfectly fitting outfit. If the size you chose doesn't quite work out after trying it on, returns are always free.

Men's cycling apparel sizes

Men's cycling apparel is cut to male proportions, characterized by broader shoulders, a longer torso, and a straighter taper toward the waist. When choosing a jersey, chest circumference is the leading measurement, while for cycling shorts and bib tights, hip circumference is decisive.

Plus-size cycling apparel is also a standard part of our men's collection. Our plus-size cycling apparel goes up to XXXL, ensuring every rider gets a comfortable, snug fit regardless of build.

If you are not sure between two sizes in men's apparel, the custom size guide selector on every product can help you find your right size in just a few seconds.

Practical tips for choosing the right size

  1. Measure yourself before choosing: Don't rely on old measurements. Body measurements change over time, so previous notes may no longer be accurate. Make sure you have the correct height and weight before adding it to the size guide selector.

  2. Check your size per garment: Size recommendations may vary per product as tights or bib shorts fit your body differently than a cycling shirt will. Always select the product first, then use the size guide selector once per product for your optimal fit.

  3. Inclusive sizing: Plus-size cycling apparel is not the exception at Acelera, but the standard. Every cyclist deserves cycling apparel that fits and performs optimally, so don’t hesitate to check for bigger sizes.

  4. Personal advice: If you’re still not sure about which size to choose, feel free to reach out via live chat or email. We're happy to help you find the ideal size.
